Elon Musk claims WhatsApp ‘can’t be trusted’ in Twitter outburst
Elon Musk responded to the allegations about WhatsApp by saying “WhatsApp cannot be trusted”. Details are here.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk uploaded to Whatsapp with the tweet he published from his own account. These words, which a Twitter user published in response to the tweet shared, were found extremely remarkable. After Musk’s words, discussions began about the reliability of Whatsapp. A response is awaited from Whatsapp, which has come to the fore for security reasons.
Is WhatsApp listening to microphones?
Foad Dabiri, who works as an engineer at Twitter, shared the system logs and stated that WhatsApp listened to him while he was sleeping. Elon Musk shared this post, “WhatsApp cannot be trusted.” He made a harsh exit by adding his answer. As you can see in the image in the tweet, WhatsApp started using the microphone later in the night and repeated the access from time to time until the morning hours.
Regarding the issue, WhatsApp’s response was not delayed. Stating that they are investigating the claim in question, WhatsApp underlined that the problem may be related to the phone. He explained that they only use the microphone permission for voice calls and messages, by end-to-end encryption, and they want Google to fix the problem the user is experiencing.
Along with WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, it is under the umbrella of META company. Facebook’s privacy and security fiascos that came to the fore in the past can easily cause suspicion today. Moreover, the problems experienced in the past are not limited to Facebook. We have seen WhatsApp with similar violations. Previously, it had been criticized for sharing some sensitive data such as location and phone number with META.
